The courses
What runs in Melbourne
Four courses run in Melbourne on a rotating basis, with the full programme in Sydney and online. Dates above are the source of truth; any course not currently scheduled here can be delivered in house or taken online.
FOUNDATION
Best Practice Project Finance Modelling
Build a project finance model from a blank workbook on our globally proven methodology. Two days, and where most participants begin. Our most attended course.
ADVANCED
Advanced Project Finance Modelling
Take a transaction from screening to financial close: debt sizing and sculpting, covenant monitoring and integrated three-way statements.
CORPORATE
Financial Modelling for Corporate Finance
For finance professionals outside project finance who need robust valuation and investment models: DCF, WACC, terminal value, three-way statements and scenario management.
TRANSACTIONS
Financial Modelling for Acquisition Transactions
Transaction models for mergers and acquisitions: deal structuring, funding, returns analysis and the integration of an acquired business into the acquirer’s forecasts.
Practicalities
Where, when and how
In person
Open courses in Melbourne run from a central CBD venue with full catering. Sessions run 9am to 5pm Melbourne time over two consecutive days. Bring a laptop with a recent version of Excel installed; everything else is provided.
Online
Every course also runs live online over Microsoft Teams, in the same format with the same trainers, which suits teams spread across Victoria or working from interstate. The calendar invite shows the start time in your own time zone. Online sessions are interactive rather than recorded: you build the model alongside the trainer and can ask questions as you go.
Pricing and invoicing
Melbourne courses are priced in Australian dollars, shown on each date above. Booking is online by card; if your organisation needs an invoice and bank transfer, send an enquiry and we will arrange it.
Groups and in-house delivery
Booking three or more people, or want a course delivered at your offices? Any course can be run privately for your team in Melbourne or anywhere in Australia, built around your own transactions and models. Priced per day rather than per seat, so the economics improve with every additional person in the room.
Your trainers
Taught by practitioners who work on Australian transactions
Every trainer on the programme is an active modeller. The people teaching the course are the people who audit and build models for live Australian transactions the rest of the week, and the same trainers run the Sydney and Melbourne dates.
Ben Kwan
Partner, Sydney
Ben is an experienced financial modeller with a background in transaction teams and as a lead financial modeller in industry. He has experience building a wide range of models across multiple sectors. Ben leads APAC Model Audit at Forvis Mazars, where he reviews models to support clients on bid submissions, financing processes and internal governance requirements.
Hitansh Doda
Director, Sydney
Hitansh is a professional model builder with extensive experience in financial model building and development across infrastructure finance and other sectors. He focuses on financial modelling and analysis of renewable energy assets and infrastructure projects, and runs the Best Practice and Advanced courses regularly.
Who attends
Built for the Australian market
Melbourne is where much of Australia’s infrastructure and superannuation capital is managed, and where Victoria’s renewable energy target and transport programme are financed. Our Melbourne courses are structured around Australian lender expectations, and attended by the people investing in, financing and advising on those transactions.
LENDERS
Banks and other lenders
Project finance, structured finance and credit teams at Australian lenders who size, sculpt and monitor debt, and need to understand and challenge sponsor models.
INVESTORS
Funds, sponsors and developers
Infrastructure and superannuation funds, renewable energy and storage developers, and PPP sponsors building and defending models through to financial close and beyond.
ADVISERS
Advisory and consulting
Financial advisers, engineers and consultants who need to interrogate a model as well as build one.
Beyond training
Model audit, development and advisory across Australia
Training is one arm of the practice. Our Australian team also audits, builds and supports the models behind live transactions in Victoria and nationally, partner-led on every engagement, and was part of the practice named Global Model Auditor of the Year at the IJGlobal Awards 2025.

Questions
Frequently asked about our Melbourne courses
Who are the courses designed for?
A range of experience levels, from analysts building foundational modelling skills through to experienced professionals applying best practice in project finance and infrastructure. Best Practice Project Finance Modelling is where most people begin; Advanced assumes you have completed it or have several years of modelling experience.
What do I need to bring?
A laptop with a recent version of Excel. Course files, materials and catering are provided for in-person courses; online participants receive the files in advance.
Can a course be run for my team in Melbourne or elsewhere in Australia?
Yes. Any course can be delivered privately at your offices, anywhere in Australia, or online, tailored to your sector, transaction types and internal modelling standards. In-house delivery is priced per day, so it is usually the better option from about six people.
Do you run courses in Sydney, Perth or elsewhere?
Yes. Courses also run in Sydney and Perth, in Singapore for Asia and in London for Europe, and every course runs live online. See the course schedule for every date and location.
